Purpose:

To provide best practices on genotype sample collection methods.  All methods and any approved justifications must be on individual approved IACUC protocols.  The methods below are recommended in descending order of preference based on degree of invasiveness, convenience of sample collection, and utility of samples for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) processing.  Tail biopsy is not recommended when a lesser invasive method will fulfill research needs and use of digit amputation is not allowed.
